I once tried this in a hire car.
I got a summons to court.
New shirt, 6 points, £200 fine, £50 court costs.
Helluva lot more for insurance.
And this was a sh!tty car, so my advice, do it with fake plates so you don't get caught

If you have then why wud you even contemplate the idea, us GTD drivers drive for the fuel economy first and foremost lol...and of course every now and then we have a bit of fun...

In my situation which I was referring to, yes the plates were the giveaway and were how I got my points. However, it was a joke, as you say it's a big offence in itself.  

That said, fake plates would have definitely got me off the hook

If you're posting a video to demonstrate an attained top speed, chances are you're going to prove said speed by filming the speedometer (or other speed indicating equipment). Whilst this makes your claim to fame on the forums irrefutable (if that is anything online can be considered irrefutable), it also makes it easy for PC Plod to verify your speed and thereby catch you.
