Contacting HMRC
« on: 12 June 2012, 13:30 »
Sh!ttest service I've yet to use. Twice I've tried hanging on the line for 40+ minutes with no answer!

I'm owed about £380 in overpaid tax for the year 2011-2012. I'd rather go in to a tax office and sort things out in person but the Bournemouth one seems to be for business' from what I've tried.

Anyone know if the best try is to write a letter to them and send it along with my P60 and payslips from the previous job?

I started my first job late in April 2011, and the season finished in September. My last payslip from them was October 2011, I didn't receive a P60 from them. Late October I started another job which I still have, and in April they gave me a P60. Having worked out what I earned in the last tax year I've paid tax when I shouldn't have.

alternatively wait a few years and get a Brucey bonus at the end of the year in time for Christmas, I'm owed £200 from last year but going to wait for them to send me a cheque

Oh so they'll do it automatically in a few years time? I rather do it sooner than later though, would like to upgrade from a mk3 soon

Requested mine last year and got it back within 3 months.  But there again I was disappointed.  My payroll had told me I had overpaid for 2 years running and to contact HMRC but they didnt say by their calculations it would be £16.14p

IIRC Reclaiming overpayment of tax has to go to HMRC in Liverpool.

That's where I contacted to get my ££££ back.
