warranty question about hutch struts
« on: 12 June 2012, 10:55 »
both my GTI 6 hutch struts have gone dead and the hutch cannot stay up. I went to the dealer, they refused to change them even though car is still within warranty, they said I wasn't servicing the car at one of the authorized dealers therefore warranty is void.  Is this true even though the broken/deficient part is not an engine part?  I mean, noone touches the hutch struts no matter where you service your car.  Ta.

As long as its a VAT registered garage and they use genuine parts then the warranty remains intact

are you sure of this?  because in waranty document they gave me when i bought the car, it says warranty is void if service/maintenance is not performed by authorized dealer.  i was just wondering whether this has real status since the deficient part is not engine-related one. Ta

Just realised you are in Cyprus but it certainly applies in the UK that as long as its VAT registered then the warranty remains intact

Is it possible that VW here in Cyprus has a different policy than VW in the UK?  I would think the policy regarding warranty is universal.  Anyone on this?

+1

however most places try to fight this. my mate had about 2k worth of work done on his seat under warrenty, except they tried to tell him that he couldnt have it done because the services were done somewere else. after a lengthy process he eventually won, think he threatend them with small claims court after about 4 months...

I think by now vw and other dealer, suzuki, merc, ford ect ect...will have a small print that says you have to take it to a authorised dealer for servicing ect and if you don't then know matter what the warranty work it might be, it's void..

Pm evo1986(member) he is a vw dealer and will tell you honestly...
