well from the games ive watched england have a snowballs chance in hell

and that is nothing to do with the manager.
alot of optimists think we have talent in our players and they are right, however all that talent means nothing if you cannot think, and sadly that is very apparent.
if you watch them, they pass around the defence and midfield with little or no idea how to work the ball forward on the ground around the opposition. so they eventually run out of ideas or options due to lack of movement off the ball and therefore resort to type and default mode, which is hoof it down the channels and run on to it aka kick and rush.
if you watch scott parker he does some fantastic work winning the ball, yet when he has the ball with space in front of him he does not carry the ball forward into that space and draw in opposition players, he stops turns and and usually plays sideways or backwards and that allows opposition to reset and defend easily.
he is not the only one that does that.
i really cant see why people cannot understand that our players individual technical and thinking abilities are about 30years behind and have been overtaken by so called lesser footballing nations like the czechs or croatia, let alone the players of spain , germany etc.
we as a footballing nation really need to start over at grassroots level like school football and aim for a tournament in 10-15yrs time.
that will never happen with the money in the premiership at present.
sorry to put a dampener on the optimists but ive watched and played for 40yrs and individual skill and the ability to make time and look up to make a pass are paramount to controlling a game of football
