KO3s Turbo setup?
« on: 09 June 2012, 23:13 »
hi there, needing some advice on a good cheapish set up for a KO3s based setup

obviously i need a KO3s turbo,

but what else would i need for a good basic set up,

i currently have a coldside bailys dump valve but it is not a recirc does this matter?

also i have a remap to around 200bhp at the moment, apparently...

i wanted to fit a fmic would this be worth doing for the kO3s? would it give me a much better gain then without?

would i need to change anything to make the new turbo fit?

and finally where is the best place/ places to get all the parts i need, on the cheap, ebay is ok but rarely has a kO3s turbo...

and also where is the cheapest/best place to get a fmic if i should get one, includiing/separate pipework?

thanks

karl

Ditch the dump valve before you get shouted at
Forge 007p - £70
For cheapness toyosport fmic
For fitment - ths fmic
I would say a fmic is a good idea as with good mods your looking at 230 bhp and without you will get quite a bit heat soak.
You won't need to change anything to make the k03s fit but a decent downpipe and exhaust is a good idea and also a silicone tip, catch can (to keep your intake air clean), panel filter and upgrade your brakes

Here's a DIY for the turbo ....

hmmm i like the 007 valve, i had one on my old mk4, this dump valve came with it already.

on mine the pipes have been blocked off from the rear silver piping from where the original valve was fitted as standard, could i just keep the same set up as is on there now with the 007 valve?

and also forgot to say my engine code is the AGU

cheers

I'm guessin is been blocked off due to the cold side relocation?
You could probably leave it but not 100% sure as I don't knowni it been done right but leaving it would be quite difficult if you get a front mounted as all of the hoses change so would probably be easier and more simple to just but it back in its original place

thas what i was kind of thinking, as i could easily just get a new hose kit from creation motorsport and move it back.

ye i would do that pretty much last before the map, would also make it easier to get to everything i need to change wouldnt it.

found a ko3s turbo on piston heads thats been sat for a year apparently, but was working when he swapped it for a ko3 hybrid?

its £40 would this be a bargain? he said it has a tiny little bit of play in the shadt but with no cracks or anything. looks tidy from the pic.

worth it?
