Which car - again
« on: 09 June 2012, 17:23 »
I know I should pm wolverine really but I thought I would ask instead.

Basically after a car around 650 as a run around as I'm sick to death with using trains, the service for the cost is just sh!te. I still have the Golf, but its not cost effective to run over the train. Yet my misses has a KA, and does similar milage to what I use to do in the Golf to and from work and it costs her £40 every two weeks! The golf would use slightly more in just a week. So what cars can you guys advise around the £650 mark as a general run around to and from work thats all. It has to be economical and I'm handy with a spanner.

cant see how when you factor in purchase, insurance, tax and costs a second car would work out cheaper than just fueling the mk4

if you really dont want to go on the train...why not sell the mk4 and buy something more economical...

mk4 is currently sorn and off road as I don't use it, even though I am still doing bits to it. I've been using trains the last 6months+. So technically this will become the new set of main wheels for a while. I have worked out insurance on a second ka (as an example) plus cost of car and fuel is still cheaper than my train ticket throughout the year  :lipsrsealed: Plus no doubt they will increase train fares again, even though last year they promised the max increase on a seasonal ticket will not exceed 10%, yet mine went up 25%  go figure eh?

So there's method in my madness

ANYTHING else is a waste, and diverts from your goal.
