40mm on Eibach springs looks OK and handles very well. I have this setup on mine, I'd recommend it, oh I have 15" wheels.

... it's turned into a fashion show for poofters.

personally I'd go for a 60mm drop. that's what I have now. maybe 80mm if you can get away with it.

but your mk3 weighs about 3 tonnes . so its natural weight will make it sit even lower

Its 3.321 tonnes to be exact

40mm drop will be the optimum for handling and sporty look.

Any more will be a pain in the arse over speedbumps and would ruin the handling on Britains rough bumpy roads.

If you can handle your car scraping on speedbumps, struggling to get on the ramps at the MOT station, etc, etc then go for the 60mm + drop, but if I was using the car every day it would soon cheese me off.

I've got the 40mm drop on mine and I reckon it looks low but is still managable. I've had it loaded to the roff in a house move and still drove ok with no rubbing and I have 7j x15" alloys on it.

on my mk2 Ive gone 80mm on 15s with 195x45x15s and never looked back

oh and that my daily drive - speed bumps are do-able.

If i were you i wouldn't make the compromise and go for coilovers.

i just wound my coilovers down til it was level with the tops of the tyres, if your using it for track days it doesn't matter about spped humps really, or are you going to be driving/track day-ing it as well?
