Power surge / Small whistling from engine bay
« on: 09 June 2012, 07:43 »
Hey guys as I've just done some research on here to see if anyones came across this problem before and i came across this;

Hello

Not really sure what happened, but put my foot down in first today and got a usual surge of power, then suddenly it stopped - same sort of effect you get when traction control kicks in, only the power never came back. The car would idle fine but wouldn't really rev enough for me to drive, unless i held the clutch at biting point.

The letters EPC came on the speedo.
My engine light was already on due to to the charcoal cannister being removed.
I don't have anything to scan with either as i'm away at uni.

I turned the car off and back on and it was fine, but a bit concerned it might happen again

Any suggestions?

Exactly the same problem I've just had this morning, it only seems to happen when the car has just recently been started(cold), its only happened a handful of times but now the cars developed a whistle when i put my foot down & I'm slightly concerned, any suggestions?

hey mate, its an AUM. Ive just had it out there on a test drive think the whistling is most defiantly a boost leak, only whistles when going into boos and gets louder according to how hard you accelerate!
Didn't seem to have any issues with power surging at all that time & the car seems to run sweet as a nut when its at running temperature.
Looks like I'm going to have to get all silconed up after all  :evil:
Whats the most popular choice of hoses? I know Forge do some!
