« on: 08 June 2012, 21:41 »
my ball joint on drivers side has gone. slight bit of play nothing major

how desperatly does this need sorting... will it be ok till the 26th? cause im absolutly skint!!!!!

also how hard is it to do? had a look on the internet and it came up with all sorts. remove hub/partially remove hub/remove driveshaft/use specialist tools...

cheers
Paul

Will be fine. May get some steering wheel wobble at 60ish.

Ball joint separator is the only specialist tool makes it easier but isn't essential to do the job.
Ive done it with the hub and driveshaft all in place.
just undo the locking nut on the balljoint, you cant fully undo the nut as the him gets in the way.
Use the ball joint separator (large screwdriver, fox wedge) to pull the ball joint out of the hub.
Undo the 3 M8 bolts which hold the ball joint to the wishbone.
Remove ball joint.
Insert new balljoint into the wishbone and do up bolts
Push the balljoint into the hub slightly and get the locking nut started
Tighten locking nut until ball joint is fully inserted into hub and nut is tight.

Thats the jist of it of the top of my head. about half hours work if you got all the tools
I often wonder why people never expect sarcastic comments from me - they're the only reason I speak...
