Feckin' Baskets!!
« on: 12 June 2005, 18:07 »
Well, I've just got back today after 16 days i the good old US of A seeing my bro and takin the family to Denver and LA.
I have only just got over the fact that at 6am on the morning I went I found some clever sod had been trying to screw my car door. Despite the fact it had nothing on view ( stereo front in the house ), a streering lock on it and the immobiliser and ultra sound thingys were on.
Didn't stop the arse making a right mess!

It's also damaged the paintwork under the lock!
What do you think I should do? Claim on the insurance  and lose my NCB or get some of those armour plates and try to hide the damage?
I'll still need to do something with the handle as it's a bit loose in the door now!
My paintwork was nice and original Metallic Royal Blue. If only I'd got hold of the little monkey

Even worse is that the area I live in doesn't suffer from this kinda crap normally. Now wondering if it's someone havin a pop or am I just gettin paranoid? It's been parked outside the house while I've been away and not suffered and other damage!

I would'nt think its worth claiming on insurance, not by the time you pay an excess

Gutting mate, I reckon you should get some armoured plates to hide the damage and to stop it from happening again.

Nice to see you back by the way

Yeah that's what I thought, but just don't like the idea of armoured plates, they usually show signs of damage

Nice to see you back by the way

Glad to be back and I'll be looking for a set of plates along with some armour piercing bullets for my 9mm, so I can pop a cap in the ass of the little mofo

theres nowt worth nickin in my car ... yet... but i've put some plates on - well i've replaced the rusty ones... well worth it i think... only thing i need to change is the standard door pins i've come back to my car twice now to find the doors wide open. luckily its just my dad thats breaking in  :embarassed:... but thats not the point - need some straight pins to stop them being hooked and the door unlocked without any damage! silly daddy........

I've said it loads of times on here now but to anyone reading this with a mk1 or mk2, GET SOME ARMOUR DOOR PLATES or this may happen to you. Like piggy, I found out the hardway too.

piggy, I got the bodywork repaired when this happened to me and I guess you can just put the plates over the damage that's up to you, but you will need to at least put something on it so that it doesn't rust and spread, I hear that clear nail varnish does ths trick, but others may have some more handy tips.  :undecided:
......now officially dubless.
