Hired a 2.0litre Golf 'GT' for the weekend!
« on: 03 June 2012, 19:44 »
Well I hired this last month a very nice 2.0litre (140bhp) 'GT' (brand new '12' plate too!)

Had it for 3 days & covered 163miles in it, such a nice car.

I was impressed with the precise steering, handles very well (even on corners it grips like it's on rails), I love the quick acceleration it's capable of, has tinted glass in back 2 windows (lovely touch), cruise control, Bluetooth phone kit, nice big 18" alloys, heated leather seats - just an overall impressive car in my opinion.

Really struggled to give the keys back as I got a bit attached to the car!

Took some pictures.

Looks good, but now you've had a 140GT won't you be a little disappointed when you get your 122, but I'm sure a remap will sort that out

Hmm. 106 bhp/tonne. My Mk3 8V GTi has 111 bhp/t and that is the slowest performance VW since a slug crawled on to the bonnet of an old Beetle and thought - wowsers, this is quick! It does go round corners like it is on rails though (probably helped by its light weight).

If you have the money, perhaps some more power might add to the enjoyment?

Yup, I will be a little disappointed when I get my 122 in comparison with the 140bhp. But as you say it's nothing a remap won't sort out.

Perhaps you should try one. It's not all about peak numbers.

My sig sums up my thoughts on the matter.
Red Mk6 gone replaced with a white Mk7 which has gone too. Green Mk2 here to stay.

I'll do some videos of Mapped GTD vs GT TDI 0-60 sprints when I get 5

I've not mapped the GT TDI DSG I've leased for the install lads at work as it needs to be changed at 10,000 miles meanng I'll be getting a new one every 10 weeks or so
