Repaired Tyre (How reliable are they)
« on: 01 June 2012, 12:09 »
My mates the manager at a Kwit Fit so always sorts me out, rather than pay 80 quid for a new tyre, he had one he had repaired lying around and put it on for free. Just wondering how reliable repaired tyres were? He seems to have done a good job looking at it.

20 quid for an MOT (passed) and a new tyre. cant compain.

As long as the repair is in the tread and not the sidewall you should'nt have anything to worry about.

Happened to me about a week after buying them brand new. Lasted til the death. Don't lose sleep over it

Lol just show's how professional kwik-fit are. if the tyre is not below 3mm off thread then it dangerous as you have to grind down the tyre to fit the mushroom in order for it to seal. not only that it shouldn't be near the sidewall as that is where the most energy is put through.
i wouldn't personally take my car to a kwik-fit not after what i've heard. cheap for a reason.

i dont see as im taking it to kit fit though, im taking it to a make who just happens to be a manager there. im certainly not treated like a kwit fit customer thats for sure.

there priceS are a bit of a joke, before getting my Monza's rapped in rubber i went to them for a quote, for the tyres I wanted which were Goodyear Assymetric 2 18s they quoted me for supply & fit £650..

And my reply - ah okay...no worries! and as I started to walk out the fella shouts...

''Hang on a minute, What have you been quoted''?

Well kwik were the first place I tried for a price so I didn't have a price from no where else....so I just made one up, as I new from research how much the tyres were worth LOL

£500 I said, and the response...

Were match any quote you get!

So if just goes to show you how much of a profit they try and get , and I bet there's been loads of numpty's that have just said, OK!!

I new from others that kwik fit weren't good anyway and in the end I phone my old suzuki garage who did it for £480 and that was the first price they offered me!

Now this thread has turned into a ''I hate kwitfit badgering''

Anyways back on subject LOL, as long as it's not in the tyre side wall you shud be fine, besides he's your mate I very much doubt he wud do a dodgy job...
