mk 4 gti 1.8T 20V AUM
« on: 31 May 2012, 15:11 »
 hi

i have just recently joined after purchasing a mk 4 golf gti 1.8T 20V AUM 2001, im based  in wigan lancashire if there are any members near me. had a bit of a bumpy start with the car after the water pump decided to fail in my first week  but all is now fixed with a metal one lol and new timing belt and pully's, car now seems to be running fine ( i think) not done a great deal to it yet apart from changed standard DV for a forge 007 one and bypassed the 249 valve and changed all boost hose's to forge ones and motorsport creations pcv breather pipe's. i have also added a nue- speed p-flow induction kit which sounds nice from inside the car lol. and a newsouth boost gauge and steering wheels colum pod. i am now saving for a ths intercooler, de-cat and a re-map then hopefully i should be happy lol as the car dosent feel that quick to me at present (which i expected a golf gti to be) i drove deisel a few years back and seemed to have alot more pull in than mine.

Car has a full R32 body kit including wheels and twin exhaust's ( done by previous owner) and full blue recaro interior. all help and information would be much appreciated as it's the first german car i have owned ( usualy into jap stuff but thought i would give it a whirl)

Nice car mate, i know how you felt when you first get the car and it needs work. I had a 16v polo before my golf, and that was a complete endless money pit. Now i've got a golf gti, and i couldn't be happier, i'm not too far away from you in Stalybridge, north of manchester :) good luck with the car mate

Btw ring a few of your local VW dealers. There's a recall on coil packs, theyll fit 4 new ones for free

Not sure tbh mate. Drop a few local dealers an email and ask. I've got an 01 AUM and they did mine that's why I mentioned it
