Turbo replacement question
« on: 31 May 2012, 13:13 »
Hiya

My mates Leon Cupra (Diesel) turbo failed, and belched white smoke everywhere.  New turbo fitted but 'garage' say to clear it out they need to drive it out-of-hours until it stops smoking.

Is that right?  I can't imagine VW or similar having to wait for night-fall to clear it?

James
You only ever need two tools in life. If it moves and it shouldn't use Duct Tape. If it does not move and it should, use WD40.

guessing it blew an oil seal and duffed a load of oil down the exhaust.  while there oiol down the exhaust it's going to smoke.

vw would put a new exhaust on,   the other cheeper way is to drive it about so the exhaust gets hot and all the oil buggers off,  this is best done at night as the smoke is less obvious,  cop shop take dim view of smoke screens
all the VW's have gone bar 1.
