TUNING TIPS FOR A GTI 2.0 8V???????

I would not even spend the money getting it re mapped TBH.

The only engine mod on my old 8v was a K&N panel filter.

From previous experience on the rolling road days the power output on most 8v was usually between 110 - 125 BHP. The higher end of this was more to do with a well serviced engine.

Just enjoy the car for what it is, a good steady work horse/mule 

This and try not to concentrate on speed as you can only go so fast in this country before you'll lose your licence and the 8v is more than capable of doing that.. ...clean,low,subtle is the way to go.

I want the speed as well coming from a 280bhp leon cupra r 225 but i just know the 8v wont get there so get it lower and with a nice exhaust and enjoy it round the twisties or put the money towards a vr or 16v

16v won't get near a cupra r and the vr comes with a heavy thirst so you'll need to think of transplants instead.

In all fairness no standard engined mk3 is going to touch a Cupra R in performance stakes, hence the reason im after one next.

I was looking at one in a garage the other day, awful lot of bang for your buck and a nice interior too.

Faster, newer, handles better, safer and even has isofix rear seats - i could be onto a winner with the missus here.

Gutting the interior is probably the most effective modification on these for more speed.

Or change the FD to a lower one, to make the best use of the power available.

Even better...lighten it AND change the FD.

a L and B flywheel with something like a 3.9/4.2 FD will feel like £1000 worth of mods anywhere else.
You can scrape 150 out of an N/A 8v but in cash terms its not worth it, if your handy and do it for love + some quality shed time then anything is worth it like turbo conversions etc etc
If you just want more power for the traffic light derby and instant fun then buy another car as Mk3's aint that quick without serious work.
£3k gets you plenty of choice of 200 bhp plus cars or a classic hatch which is half the weight of today's equivalent

The seats are nice but they still seem a little bland inside to me, I looked at a few Cupra's before getting the Octavia, I still think the Octavia feels / looks nicer inside.

one other thing?? my dash shows up the milage when the keys arent in but as soon as i put the keys in and start her up it jst says 'cerr' and then flashes to '--------' ? any ideas?
