I paid £60 last summer and it was money well spent, they were going nuts and stung everyone who walked by the flat. Little feckers!

Contacted councils environmental team, but apparently they don't deal with wasps, but they said they will contact me back and see what they can do.

Should I also report the propery vacant aswell?

I suggested the closing air bricks to a friend he said they will just find another way in and out. So I'm a bit lost on what to do?

The landlord is responsile. We just had a bee nest removed from above our porch that was through our letting agent!

Glad we didn't buy the house with how much the landlord has had to pay out in our 12 months there!

Thanks! Just been in loops today, rang council, confirmed property is not owned by them its private. Spoke to environmental, they said what you said down to landlord. They also have no power over wasp issues, if it was rats yes, but not wasps.

Haven't got my bank card on me, but tonight I will do a Land Registry search and see who's deeds are on the property, will have the Landlords details of permanent residents. All I can do from there is write a letter to him and wait to see whether he does anything as there is no means of enforcing it unless my daughter gets stung then I could go to court. Its such a grey area as its not enforceable and down to the landlord to do it if he pleases.

I'm debating on closing his air bricks but I don't want to cause any damage to his property and be liable, I work at the courts as it is. In the mean time all I can do is secure my property to stop them getting in. Great in this heat, wish it would snow.

for piece of mind, find out how much it wll cost you to have them removed/killed by a pest controller. this way hopef**klly the problems sorted for the next few months and your little ones safe. once the house is occupied, find out who the tennant is and in the future you can get him/her to sort it out.

Think I will clear the rubbish outside the house next door (i'm guessing this is what attracted them in the first place) and seal the vents with some duct tape. Problem is I can't tell where the nest is, under the floorboards or in the living room. Either way you would need entry to the house, which I can't get.

I imagine they won't last long with the vents closed, for a week max? Then peel it off and job done!

Thanks for the help so far.

They'll only return. Phone a few local property agents as it may be on their books and they can sort it. Personally I wouldn't get involved as it could put you in a compromised position. Or atleast until you've exhausted all other options.
