Returning to the Golf scene with a '95 Cabrio
« on: 28 May 2012, 19:17 »
Hello all,
Just got myself a fairly standard 2.0 Avant Garde in Aqua Blue Pearl, having a few problems but can't moan too much as she has 78k on the clock and cost me £590!!! First problem to sort is the hood which is coming apart at the seams and the motor isn't working, I say isn't working, I have live feeds coming up to the relay and I've taken the motor out completely and run it directly off the battery and works in both directions. Just recieved a relay off Steven's VW (ebay) and plugged it in and still no go, so hoping it's either a bad earth of wiring problem between the relay and the motor!?!?

Ordered a Red Mohair hood which I should see next week and hope to get it fitted and work in the next couple of weeks. I also have a problem with the N/S/F window, it only works off the drivers switch by pressing it down, then up and then down again to get it to go down, going then is fine!!! Remove the switches from the handles and plug back in again and the both work fine first time, odd???

End of June I'm ordering up coilovers, camber bolts and shims, new bottom arms with R32 bushes and new ball joints, Poly bushes all round, all 3 strut braces and new anti-roll links. I have big plans for the Cabrio including a Porsche Carrera White paint job with contrasting red touches. But I will start a thread on the build in that part of the forum.

Thanks guys.

On here for sound advise and feed back on my changes to the Cabrio, mainly the work over the next few months is the handling and the interior once the hood is sorted.

Must start my thread tonight
