K&N Panel 8v-16v
« on: 01 October 2003, 22:49 »
1. Does anyone know if a K&N replacement panel filter designed for a MK2 GTI 8v (mono jetronic) will fit into my airbox?

I have a 16v K-Jetronic, and as far as i know, the airboxes are the same shape and size.  The K&N part number is 33-2029 if it means anything.  I just want to know, because I cant seem to find a specific filter for my 16v on their website.

2. I have a clutch cable brand new as from GSF.  It is for a '96 MK3 1.8 driver, and want to sell it.  Duz anyone know what other cars this would fit, so I know what to say when advertising.

thanks

Harry

the filter will fit late spec 16v's 89-91 (long slim airbox)

early spec 16v's and 8v k-jets use 33-2001 (short fat airbox)

as for the clutch cable, just look the part up on gsfcarparts then compare the part number with that listed for other models

I have found it better in the long term to go to VW.

Do a search on the forum for GSF, as i have posted about problems that i and other people have had with them. I can't speak for Euro car parts as i have never used them. VW have cut most of their prices a lot in the last year, so its always worth giving them a bell.

I've heard many bad things about GSF etc. as has been mentioned above i think its always better to buy from VW at least then you know the quality is good

Er wrong man - tis the other way round.

My last two valves 89's - had the long slim element.

and my latest 90 - has a long fat element

Can't speak for 8valves as I've never had one

well my 91 has the long slim one (with the cold air hole facing forwards)

does the base of yours look like the one in this pic? this is the earlier base

this is the later style base that i have (i know the pic aint a 16v) but im only using the pic to show the difference in the base of the airbox
