Thinking about it and from looking at other sites I have found this.

Springs for small engine: FK1866 (60N7mm)
springs for bigger engines: FK1767 (70N/mm)   -   VWVortex say engines like v5,v6 & 1.8T

Therefore would FK1866 with a lower compression rate suite my mk2 digi 8v?

Im no expert but would this just see the ride a little softer if anything?

What do you think?

Cheers

For what its worth, I used to have a set of the same coilovers on my mk2 and I thought the spring rates were far far far too stiff for the damping (it pogoed me off the road to the inside of a corner on one occasion). I did try it with the rear springs on the front and vice versa and the softer rear springs (from memory 60N/mm, fronts are 70N/mm) on the front did help a little bit but my own thoughts from the time were that the fronts should be more in the range of 25 to 40N/mm but I never got round to testing this as I was offered a swap by someone who knew how unhappy I was with them but only wanted them to get low.
One thing I did discover while I was looking at this was that VW homologated the 16v golf for competition in 1986 with spring rates of approximately 21N/mm at the front and 16N/mm at the rear which is ever so slightly different to the rates that FK chose to say the least and told me that my thinking on softer being much better would be correct.... For reference you can find the homologation papers here: http://www.vwmotorsport.com/vwtech/files/Golf%202%20GTI%2016-valve%20Group%20A%20,%20A-5295,%201781.32cc.pdf
