1.6 cuts out when up to temprature

right my cl is amazing but when in city traffic it gets up to standard temp and continuesly cuts out unless the accelerator is held down slightly garage reckoned it was head gasket but its just done a 200 mile trip on holiday and back with no problems other than when we were stuck in traffic temp went up and it cuts out again on duals the temp goes down to 70 and its perfectly fine, as its nice weather i thought id strip it out. i have a perfectly working 1.4 if i need any relays ect but any ideas what it could be

Coils be your coil mate. My black one used to do that. Always sat in tragic or and tragic lights. Then had to let it cool abit and it would start. I changed the coil and it never happened again.

only just had new coils sparks distributer in last 1000 miles :/

Mine does the same and I'm pretty sure it's the throttle body.

Just CBA to get a new one so have ever so slightly adjusted the cable so it idles at 900 when warm.

Is it the single point, multi point or cross flow multi point?  They are all different engines, and run different management systems, so could be different issues depending on what engine it is,   do you know the code?
