It's mine - But with a sting in the tail!!
« on: 26 May 2012, 07:12 »
Well guys my Ed 35 is finally mine, and I promise I put some photos up ASAP. However there is also bad news - as I was driving home from work in it on Wednesday I saw that the Engine Management (engine block) light was on!! So I pulled over and waited an hour for the RAC guy to turn up. Although obviously I haven't had it long enough to tell properly, the car appeared to be running fine but it looks like it could be something to do with the fuel/oxygen mixture as the phrase "running too lean" or similar appeared on the guy's diagnostic pad. Anyway I drove it home then took it to the dealers on Thursday and it's been there ever since!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm hoping that it's just something simple like a sensor fault or something similar.  At least the EML wasn't flashing - I'm told that could indicate something much more serious.

I was really cross about it on Wednesday & Thursday, but I've now resigned myself to the fact I've just got to leave them to sort it out and hopefully I'll get it back on Monday.

I'd say its a sensor if their was no change in the car's behaviour, iv'e got a 8 year old mk5 tdi and the engine management light came on 18 months ago and its been fine, even flew through the MOT. Obviously you don't want it on a new car though or any decent car but my TDI is  just a old ish family shopping car. I would be peed off but hopefully it should be fine.

Sorry to heave that. Takes the shine off the new car experience a little.

Hope the dealer has provided you with a decent courtesy car and not left you without wheels.

Yes, I have this big black monster of a 4x4 DSG Touareg. It's a smart car for sure but not much fun to drive  Apparently insured for me until next Thursday. I hope they're not expecting to take that long to get my car fixed!

I do have one photo to share.  I took this with my phone in the workshop before I took delivery so not the most brill of images but looks good nevertheless.

When I get her back (I miss my baby ) I'll take some proper photos and post them up on a new thread

Rubbish, the will fix it and you'll be happy as larry when it's back.

Don't let it spoil the car for you.
I don't believe in global warming, sorry.
