Quality of your paint ?
« on: 25 May 2012, 09:34 »
Has anyone else had issue with the quality/thiness of the paint on your car? I have 2 stone chips on my bonnet & 3 what looks like small tears in the paint on the bumper/diffuser, not happy at all  i have only had the car since the 1st of March

My brother has just traded a white Roc for another one but diesel, we both noticed that the paint on it wasn't great, he had the same sort of stone chips your talking about, would be interesting to see if the golf has the same issue?

I haven't had any probs like this yet but the paintwork is shocking for such an expensive car. Over spray where the painting isn't completely finished off e.g. panel gaps, door handles when pulled out etc etc, really thin paint to the point where you can see the primer on the rear bumper etc

If I can see the primer through the paint on my rear bumper, or anywhere else for that matter, they'll be getting it back!

Yep there's been a few threads on this and it seems to affect the CW paint more so than others...I personally haven't had any issues as of yet, touch wood!

No problems here either, two years old and the odd couple of stone chips as to be expected.

In fact I think the MK6 paint is tougher than the MK5 as Seagull poo doesn't seem to mark the lacquer like it did on it.

Two fairly big chips on 2.9k. Not sure there is any point fixing them until there's a good group of them...?

I don't really want some crappy bodyshop respraying my bumper for something you can only notice if you bend down and look. The colour match between the car and the plastic parts is bad enough without someone spraying it who doesn't give a sh1t!
