Changing auxiliary drive belts.
« on: 24 May 2012, 05:14 »
Ok I am going to change my aux drive belts today.
Mines a 1995 without aircon. Has 2 belts one bit one really thin. How do I do this? Haynes manual talks about loads of diferant typs of tensioned and stuff but I don't no what type mine has so not sure wich one to follow.

Just got my new aux belts. Haynes manual says something about direction of travel but the new belts don't have any arrows on them. How do I no wich way round they go?

On the small V belt I have to loosen the power steering pump bolts abit. Are they normaly very tight and prone to break or anything?

Ok all done and that was sooooo bloopoody easy. Exept me getting the wrong belt as I thought I had a tensioner but i don't. Apart from that such a simple job. Although it hasn't stopped the creaking from steering. But did notice with right front wheel off the steering did not creak at all so think its the top mounts.

The hardest bit I found was moving the power steering pump with that cog nut thing and there was alot of swearing before I realised I hadn't undone the other bolt then it was simple
Moving the alternator was pretty easy as I used the bar from my trolley jack made it easy.
