too many cowboy garages :(
« on: 22 May 2012, 10:47 »
cant trust no one these days i hate leaving my car at a garage and with good reason they always feck somet up :(
few name of preston ones to avoid lol

devonshire garage:
* had axel bushes done there and it sounded hurrendous after took 4 visits for them to realise they hadnt tightened them
* had clutch conversion fitted there cluthc came out ok but they managed to stop my reverse light working and break the bolst on my dog bone mount both things i only found weeks after:(
discount auto spares :
* spent about £300 trying to get rid of a fault code for labda sensor they changed loads of stuff and still couldnt fix it ende dup selling car i had enough
* took it here for mot actually asked them will it be done here they said YES after picking the car up noticed a massive scratch all way round entre of my alloys they denied all knowledge then telling me it must have been done while at mot at deepdale tyres (fuming) called them and they denied it too :(

also been to awesome gti which is a distance away just for peace of mind, had service there only to find i gained an oil leak after the service :(

where do i take my car lol think i need to go learn to be a mechanic

Sounds unlucky mate?  Sorry to hear that.

I know of a real decent little garage down by me, me and my family have used them all of our lives. Mutual respect, and the odd discount gained here and there.

Have a look in the good guys thread see if there is anyone close to you...

i doubt that oil leak was actually caused by Awesome...
Anyway, have you tried Autovolk in Chorley, they get good reviews. (http://www.chorleyautovolk.co.uk/contact.htm )
You can always walk down the hill that way and pop into see Chorley Car Audio and Pure Detail too!

Is there a copper o ring on the sump bolt?
I live in Stockport and there are some good garages here that I trust, but for day to day I do all my own stuff
ARZ K03s, Oettinger Side Skirts, R32 front, Carbon stage 2, Forge 007p (yellow spring), Forge Actuator (yellow spring), Pipercross panel filter with DSG parts, N249 and N112 deleted, SAI deleted, Carbon canister deleted, Rear wiper deleted, Long Life turbo back custom exhaust with 200 cell sports cat, VR6/G60 clutch kit, Creation Motorsport TIP, Catch can, 'Wellycooler', K04 charge pipe, S3 ported inlet manifold - looks pretty standard on the outside though :)

Dude, take it back to them. They are usually good at putting right any mistakes. If they serviced it and its now dripping, ring them up or e-mail them and copy in Jim.

I have never used Autovolk but have been recommended them several times (I used to live in Adlington) and Chris from chorley car audio uses and has recommended them.

I would start with awesome and work from there.
