I beg to differ. If you are a sensible driver, one who drives to the road condition, anticipates other cars moves and it generally aware then you shouldn't have a problem. If you are referring to a car pulling out from a T junction at late notice then not many people have much chance, even with the best brakes/tyres.

iv never had a problem with my budget tyres and iv never ended up in a ditch  driving skill is a key factor and common sense

nothing to do with common sense or driving skill if your cars spinnin all 4 wheels everytime u go near the boost in the wet yet on yoko c-drives it doesnt

of course it comes down to common sense if you drive like a twit in the rain then theres summat wrong so if you are a good driver and aware of the drivers around you ie paying attention that comes under driver skill you will be totally aware of the car that just pulled out in front of you and if you have common sense you will stop in time because you aint driving like a twit make of tyre as got f**k all what so ever to do with it this is one of them my cat is blacker than yours sort of things so il say nuffin more piece out 
and when you lose control in a car you dont power on as it causes more problems
