Which kit to buy?

After some advice/opinions please, i've decided i'm going to buy my first DA and have more or less settled on the CYC Das 6 so obviously the next decision is what kit to buy with it? Basically it'll be used mainly for my car which is a steel grey mk6 and my old mans Volvo XC60, it's his car that has prompted me to buy one and he'll be going halfs with me on the kit. His car has been rotary polished VERY VERY BADLY by the dealership workshop as we complained that the NS rear door and qtr had buffer trails on them, they "mopped" the whole car which looked ok when we collected it as it was raining but since then it's apparent that it's fcuked! And of course my old man refuses to take it back and would rather i had a go.

With all that in mind i'm thinking some milder compound/polish with more passes rather than being agressive due to my inexperience?

I'm looking for advice on which pads and polishes would be best suited to the task? Polish and finish pads and polishes, i'd also like to use the DA for applying Jetseal and glaze etc to save time and energy.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I find the 3M pads very good. You'll want probably blue and yellow pads, and some ultrafina. The ultrafina 's not cheap though, but its really easy to apply and doesn't dry out and drag at all so very good imo.

I quite like the look of the 3M stuff and the fact that they are colour coded so you don't forget what pad is best for what. It is expensive though and i'm sure i've read that it's more for a rotary than a DA?

I got the menzerna kit then got additional spot 4" pads and backing plate.

Menz are great polishes for removing those deep swirls. It's a 4 stage job and they don't leave that horrible powder behind.
I use lake country and megs pads. My favorite are the the 4" spot pads.
Buy some dodojuice lime prime also!

Thanks for the input so far gents does anyone on here use Megs polishes? i've still not decided yet but the megs stuff seems to get good reviews over on Detailing World specifically the #105 and #205, would these be a better choice than #83 #82 #80 for the beginner? apparently the #105 and #205 have none deminishing abrasives so they can be worked longer but this would put more focus on the user rather than the product i think, whereas the #83 #82 #80 have deminishing abrasives which break down as the product is worked so when it goes clear you know the that you've got the best out of that application.

Does this make sense to the more experienced folk on here?

Got my DAS6 Pro from cleanyourcar.co.uk today, £100 bargain! Now all i need is the rest of the stuff, think i'm going for Hex Logic pads as they seem to get good reviews and are reasonably priced but which ones to buy for buffer trails and swirl removal? Green orange or white?

Going to get the finishing pads too (red/black) and the smaller 4" polishing ones for my old mans volvo, as you'll know volvo's have that awkward shape to the bonnet and wings!

One more question for now! How far do you think the 250ml sample bottles of Menz polish would go?
