Hi guys New member
« on: 08 June 2005, 21:53 »
Hi guys New member, just got myself a GTI 2001 1.8T

Been reading about all about your mods and fancy some myself

The Forgemotorsport dump valve seem highly recommended so wiill go for one of those

Bit confused on the CAI front though  :undecided:

The Corbonio seems like a good bet but read It takes 3 hrs to fit and you have to remove the front bumper

Can anybody recommend any easy but good alternative

Thanks guys hope to get some answers

Give people a chance matey.  For a start you've said hello in the wrong section, put a thread in the Chat new forum members section. Can't help you with your questions but there will be others along later that can.

Oh yeah sorry, welcome to the forum.

lol such impatience, 10 hours from your last post

welcome aboard, and your first mod should be a remap

i couldnt live with the noise of a cai on my mk4.. its supposed to be my comfortable car for getting to work in, but there are mixed opinions on these. cutting a hole in your airbox, ducting cold air to it and smoothing the fins in there then adding a performance panel filter is a lot cheaper, and if i remember rightly it was GaryM who logged better airflow with that setup than with a dynatwist CAI.

if you do want to go carbonio though im not sure you really need to take the bumper off.. it might make things easier though and you can take it off in less than 10 minutes

Welcome to the forum dude.

Don't be put off going for the Corbonio by the need to remove the front bumper, as it is incredibly simple to do, you just need to be methodical and take your time. I personally think it will be three hours well invested.

If you need some pointers on removing the bumper, give us a nudge

Welcome, GotaGTI!

Regarding modding airbox - I remember reading instructions for what do somewhere but I can't think where.   Might do it myself, for a laugh - can anyone post a link to instructions???

Cheers!!
