Mine is on way out too, I have the 150 model, VW quoted me £980 to supply and fit new flywheel/clutch/release bearing, independants are quoting me £5-600 using non genuine parts, VW parts come with 2yr/60k warranty

I personally wouldn't go for the solid flywheel the vibration etc would do my head in

Only going by what I've read on here and other forums, it may well be ok and not really noticable to a lot of people so I'm just saying its not for me, read up on it mate see what you think? trying to raise money to get mine sorted, no idea how long it will last so keeping mileage to minimum

Depending on what your plans are you can get a full Sachs kit from Ebay for about £400 which includes the flywheel

If you want power then budget at least 1k but a standard clutch will take a stage 1 remap

Mine came in just under 1k a few years back; it was good for 400lbs ft torque

Any ideas on how long dmf will last? the rattle will get louder? and it could damage gearbox as it gets worse?

That is the million dollar question; could be a mile; could be 100,000 miles

It will get louder and annoy you.  In extreme case potentially but i ve not heard of any :undecided:

I've had a Single Mass Flywheel fitted on mine only last week.  If it's a daily driver, and not running silly power then don't go that route.

YOu can get a DMF and Sachs clutch for about £600.
