Slightly different Dub Ride
« on: 19 May 2012, 00:33 »
*Thought I'd post this in the Mk6 section also so you fellow Mk6 owners can have a bit of a laugh (just in case some of you don't venture into the big bad world of the other sections)*

Hi folks, thought I'd post this up on here as I suspect a few of you might appreciate it.

Anyway, I purchased this set of wheels a good few years ago with the intention very much of using it as a daily. It has certainly lived up to it's role but it's taken a bit of a beating along the way. As summer approached I thought about letting it go for something newer and with less miles but, well... it's like a bit of the furniture now  .

So having made my mind up that it was staying, I decided that some serious TLC was in order and perhaps a full restoration/ modernisation to bring back the enjoyment. Since my time is split between it and my Mk6 GTI, I had the idea of incorporating some of the Mk6 styling cues into the project.

I'm pleased to say that this week the work was finally completed

I'm absolutely over the moon and have already taken it for a good spin  .

Anyway, here's what you've been waiting for. The pics.

Yes, I've re-trimmed my office chair in Mk6 Jacara Tartan.

EDIT: Apologies for the less than decent picture quality. Didn't realise it was so bad until I uploaded it  .

Bought the material off ebay:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Seat-fabric-tartan-original-VW-Golf-MK1-GTI-highest-quality-NEW-1Mx1-5M-Grey-/260873252493?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item3cbd41ee8d#ht_3579wt_1157

A bit pricey perhaps but I'm pleased with it.

How about doing the mouse mat?

Use a laptop so don't need a mouse. Unless I've missed something entirely?

Needs lowering. :lipsrsealed:

It's sitting at the moment on fully adjustable "air ride". Just pump it to the desired height

Not built for speed put it that way!
