G60 conversion
« on: 08 June 2005, 17:19 »
I'm thinking about fitting a new engine to my 1991 Mk2 Gti 8 valve. Could anyone tell me what is needed for this conversion in all please?

Get as much as you can do, im putting one into my K plate mk2 and i got the loom ecu  gearbox you will need this along with the pedal box as its hydrolic not cable need to get better brakes G60 280mm brakes (the golf i got mine from was ex 8v gti and still had baby discs lunatic) the downpipes cat / de cat as you need the oxygen sensor. i would get a loom and change it properly if it were me. intercooler pipes.. If you go ahead i can give ya a fair bit of advise.

Yes I'm very interested in doing this. I suppose it would be wise to buy a complete Corrado g60 then as they are cheap.

If you can get the car for the right price this would be a good idea + you can sell the parts you don't use on ebay or on here!! I would advise putting all new seals and gaskets on while you have the engine out. I spent 480 on a clutch and a pile of gaskets when i rebuilt my motor. And that was at volkswagen dealer cost price!!
