VR6 Splitter on my 1.4 - Wrong size?

I bought this VR6 splitter new off eBay:

I've had numerous attempts at fitting it and it doesnt meet in the middle! Is it not a direct swap like I thought I had read?

Any help is much appreciated

Funny that i did mine today same one of ebay, gap in the middle :-( and i had to used sealent either end to hold it in as it was loose. Ahwell. looks a lot better than the little OEM ones. makes my car look just that bit lower to lol.

Yeah I had an eBay one when I first got my 1.4 and had the gap, just had to live with it. I caught it on a curb and it smashed and cracked instantly so I went for a gen one I came across in the classifieds last year

I've never seen one without a gap tbh, even proper vr6 ones have probably been replaced at one time or another. I'm using the eurowagens one atm, has a small gap in the middle but looks good imo and takes quite a bit of punishment

It's like the gap in my front teeth, it's only natural.
