Never tried the front lip but SteveP painted the one on his old mk6 GTI so he could tell you how to get that off. Having had a quick look under mine it looks simple enough.
I've taken my rear diffuser off, that is very easy, undo a few hex nuts underneath and then there are a load of plastic lugs that just push into the bumper, you just manhandle the thing clear. 5 min job max.

Ahh...thanks.
I've not really looked as I had surgery on my left hand last week, so I'm struggling to do much...but that sounds promising.

i took my bumper and headlight off and fitted new bracket and put back together with one hand (right arm and hand in a cast after an op) so get cracking!

the front wasn't hard but looking at the back i think you would need 2 hands as them clips take some pulling apart

what colour you on about paining them?

i think the same grey as the front grille would look good

Mirror backs, front lip, diffuser and side trims in metallic anthracite matched to the wheels colour, I think.
Then some black tips for the exhaust...
And the de-blinging will be complete.

There is a vid on You Tube of someone detailing how to remove a GTI front bumper, sorry I haven't the link.

rear one is straightforward with bumper on, simply remove 4 screws then gently pull it and it unclips, took me a few attempts to get it back on and in reality best method i found was get the screws in before pushing the clips back in, had to use some gentle pursuasion with a rubber mallet and diffuser protected with bubble wrap to get it fully into place and clipped in give the bumper flex
