« on: 16 May 2012, 18:54 »

Is there any gurus out there with any advice or any1 thats had the same problem cuz ive had the car on the road 5 weeks now and just cant use it properly and its starting to realy annoy me , would b eternaly gratefull

No you have the right carb in there!
I was suggesting the swirl pot as I call it where the fuel sucks in the fuel can get clogged with rust!
You haven't even said what engine you got under there, but from what you have said its a carb so not gti then?
You might have an air leak in there somewhere?

There is a gasket plate around the carb you need to check anywhere that air can leak into the induction system. TBF it sounds like a massive air leak if its cutting out right away!
I would take teh plugs out to establish if its overfueling or running very lean at least then you can logically work out fuel or air leaks?

rubber gasget all sorted now but ive found another issue i think the vacuum pipes was piped up wrong as i found a diagram on google showing a differant way to how it was but now ive found that a pipe doesnt have a hose coming from it or anywhere for it to go, im thinking it goes to the standard air box which mine hasnt got, should i just blank it off? and is the diagram correct?

how it was

diagram

how it is now
its the pipe on the bottom of the carb near the top of the rad
hopefully with this little issue sorted it will b drivable
