I think coil overs work different...but im no expert :S

only slightly different where the top cap has a recessed seat for the shock leg to stop it going through.....

Ah right so coilys don't need the circlip then?
That's why I assumed his top mount had failed as I have alway just taken off standered setup and bunged coilys on   :rolleyes:My bad  :grin:

Does the circlip just slip over the top? If so do you have yours spare stainesy from your old ones?

OK so I ordered the cirlip but wow they look small. Before dismantling the shocks just wanted to check it isnt something more serious:





The bit I am holding in the second pic seems to have corroded around the middle circumference.

Do I just remove the shock from car, slide new circlip over top and refit?

Can anyone tell me do i need to fully remove the shock or will jacking alone give enough clearance to slip the circlip on?

Just try jacking it up and find out mate. Don't jack the rear up on the beam tho as if you do it on the frame instead you will get more swing down of the beam. If you stick the rear on axle stands ur not on the beam you may have a chance as beam will swing down lower.
