Sounds like you were lucky...esp if you were driving on the M25 and it didn't happen then!

Haha I was waiting for someone to say that. I didn't take any pics of the actual incident since my phone battery was low and I needed it while waiting for the mobile mechanic.

Will take a pic of the wing when I get home

just get your second hand hub and bearing. The front bearings are pretty strong on these and you would be able to feel if it was buggered before you buy it.

FAIL!

Happend to my mate a few years back in a saxo.  The chimp that sold him the car didnt put spacers on the wheels, about 3 weeks of driving the car about there was a really dodgy rattling noise, couldnt see anything obvious so drove home slow and all of a sudden the wheel popped off and flew down the road just missing a parked car and he was left sliding into the kerb! Lucky i was behind him!!

Sorry to hear that, happened to me a few years back on my Mk3 Golf, I put new wheels on and didnt (re-check) the bolts after 400 miles my passenger wheel came off but I was extremely lucky.

happened to a guy over her in his Saff Cos too, except he was going at a fair pace when the wheel came off putting him into a barrier. Walked away though, then bought himself a newer Cos with the payout from the garage that didn't do the bolts up properly
