Can i use a mk4 down pipe
« on: 13 May 2012, 20:35 »
Will be doing an AGU conversion in the near future, got a 60k engine ,unlocked and remapped ecu and loom, obviously i need other parts like intercooler /pipes ,vr clutch etc but that will be as and when funds are available,so to keep the cost down for now is it viable to use a mk4 downpipe and CAT,anyone tried? ,i can fab and weld no probs so  should i buy a mk4 standard pipe and mod it as i know where there is one cheap,or would it be totally wrong for the mk3,thanks for any input

Not going to fit really, guess you could cut it and reweld as required but will need lots of work.

As above, can be used

but why use the restrictive pipe when better flow tested stuff is available

hit me up if you want other options

Alright kells, the main reason i was going down the standard downpipe route was price ,is it really that restrictive? should be running around 190  to start with would it not take that? ,it was only going to be temperary so i could get the project underway a little earlier, then as funds become available splash out on something custom. What other options do you know of and any idea of cost ,cheers mark

Hiya Mark

the people that made mine can make you one for K03 and K03S fitment  for around the £200 mark (i had them design it up and iv used one on a conversion)
They did a lot of flow testing

the one on mine is a K04 type so very different

the standard VW one will work fine and will do the Job, if money is a issue and u are handy and a little modding go for it

Nice one for the info,i will probably mod the standard one to start with as said,i am on a tight budget at the mo and im going  to do this without the missus knowing as shes been moaning  ,i only need to get new clutch, intercooler and pipes, throttle cable ,some of the loom and exhaust  ,so plan is to get all the parts together and attempt to get the job done over a long weekend as this is my only transport  knowing her she wont notice the bloody  difference anyway lol, whats the most power a ko3 can produce?

you will need more parts to do it how id do it but the K03 mapped will be ok for around 190 / 200 bhp maybe

Ko3s would be a good call later, direct swap
