Bleeding brakes

Hi all. Getting really annoyed now. Brake hose split on Monday while I was driving. Almost crashed and died. Since then I've replaced the NSF hose. I got a mechanic to bleed the brakes as I couldn't be bothered. It didn't work and the pedal was just spongey/ straight I the floor. Since then I've heard that the master cylinder needs to be bled to. So I got the car back and had a go. Still not working. I haven't got an eezibleed but I thought the traditional 2 man pedal pump job would be ok.

Any advice will be great. Ive read through the how to on here but as I said I don't have a bleeder and don't want to waste money on one if I can do without.

Help me please!

You will need a pressure bleeder to get the air out of the system

ah thats what he meant! so i do need an eezibleed then lol?

the mechanic bled all 4 wheels with the pedal technique, is it best off just re-doing it and then finishing off with the master cylinder?

The pedal way tends not to get all the air out, pressure bleed will / should sort it :afro:

Could it be the 2 nipples on the master cylinder that everyone talks about needing doing?

You need to bleed all 4 bleed nipples & the 2 on the master cylinder. People have spoken about doing the job and having a spongey pedal and then bleeding the master cylinder and it being fine.

Take it back to your garage and tell them to do it PROPERLY.

its a part time mechanic who works in the same site as myself. Charged me beer tokens for the bleed. But yeah, he did it the traditional manual way. I'm hoping i can get it working tomorrow. Got so many little problems with the car atm im so p'd off! Its my birthday next week and im getting a few little treats for it so i really need it back! Thanks scar!

Dub, there a quite a few thread on here, have a read of them see if they relate to yours. Not to have a go at you posting about your issue...No doubt I'll be posting one in a few month when I eventually get round to doing mine  :grin:
