Rear of my car like the titanic

Cleaning out my car today i noticed my Boot felt a bit wet, so took the carpet thing out and right round the edges is soaking wet even under the left rear seat is wet. what can i do to stop this and where might the leak be coming from?

Door seals or rear light seals.

Take everything out the boot, get in it and get someone to hose it down. That's what i did to find my leak.

Did you clamp off the water hose for your rear wiper when you de-wipered? Silly question i know haha...

yeah iv put a screw down the rear wiper hose and clamp it to make sure it never did leak. turns out my left light is full of water so it has to be that right? my right light has a small amount of water and inside the car the left side is worse than the right side... iv took the seals off my old lights and put them on the newer lights. so now i actually have two seals on my lights LOL. fingers cross this does the trick. ill have to keep checking my lights for more water now and then.

2 light seals will not help, they go flat over time, just get a new pair from VW they are not expensive.

the other light seals from my old lights are fine tho and for some reason a lot thicker. so i just put both on in hope it work lol. if it fails ill get new ones.

Those ones should be okay now, if not then get new ones as Wayne has suggested

Also you can buy some butyl strip of ebay and use that. It never sets hard so won't fall victim to perishing or being split by ice in the winter.

2 gaskets could lead to more problems, they are not expensive new (£6 each) well worth fitting them with a bead of sealer around them.
