looks crap! u need 17" wheels... much better  :undecided:

You're joking! You'd have no tyre wall left, you'd slide off the road trying to keep up with me. At least some tyre wall lets the tyre give a little. You don't want to lose performance just because you think it looks good by looking as though it doesn't have any tyres.

i have 17" wheels and they have quite alot of tyre wall left, getting towards two inch

also these wheels are 18"

ARZ K03s, Oettinger Side Skirts, R32 front, Carbon stage 2, Forge 007p (yellow spring), Forge Actuator (yellow spring), Pipercross panel filter with DSG parts, N249 and N112 deleted, SAI deleted, Carbon canister deleted, Rear wiper deleted, Long Life turbo back custom exhaust with 200 cell sports cat, VR6/G60 clutch kit, Creation Motorsport TIP, Catch can, 'Wellycooler', K04 charge pipe, S3 ported inlet manifold - looks pretty standard on the outside though :)

Your speedo must be reading wrong as the standard tyre is just under two and a quarter inch with 16 inch wheels.

nope it reads exactly the same and its the same OD as my standard alloys. 225/45/17 and if you do 45% of 225 you get 101.25mm therefore roughly 100mm for the whole side wall and once you take into context the bead that goes inside the alloy and the curved part of the tyre your looking at around 5 cm. i shall go get a pic to prove

I'll assume it's not a MK4 from this point onwards shall I then?

how could the speedo be wrong the circumfrence of the wheel is the same from 16" with correct tyre size to 18" with 225 40 18 its when you go bigger than that size that throws the speedo out

Are your other wheels standard? I thought they were all 16" 55mm profile as standard.

It's the bit (a little towards the top) where he said his wheels are 18", not the OD is 18" of the tyre and the wheel, I assume now that then, he meant OD.
