Pipercross Panel Filter Ed35
« on: 10 May 2012, 11:35 »
Hi Guys,

I want to replace the standard air filter in my ed35 to a pipercross one. Any ideas if i should be going for the mk6 gti part or the mk5 ed30 part as they use the same engine?  :undecided:

Also, i wouldnt have a clue how to fit it. Can anyone explain to me how to do it, or post a how to do link with pictures if you know of one?

Cheers guys.

Mk6 and ED35 use different engines, ED30 and ED35 are the same, not having looked at this I would call them to make sure.

My opinion is that replacement panel filters don't not provide any extra power so save your money.
Current: GTI Edition 35 Candy White 5dr DSG 19" Glendale, RCD510+DAB, Dynaudio, Storage Pack, Parking Sensors

Gone: Edition 35, GTI Mk6, Edition 30, GTI Mk4, GTI Mk3, GTI Mk2 and my favourite the UR quattro
For those that dont know DSG is an electronically controlled dual-clutch multiple-shaft manual gearbox

I'd have to agree. If you're looking for a way to help your car breathe better then you can either just clean the existing filter (probably not too helpful on a new car) or you should be looking at going for the full air intake system. A panel filter on it's own isn't really going to make that much of a difference and isn't worth the amount of money it costs to purchase.

Just for reference however you'll be wanting Edition 30 parts rather than Mk6 GTI parts. The Ed 35 lump is straight out of the Edition 30. Mk6 GTI is a different engine and setup.

i really think panel filters have a greta placebo effect, plus the fact its a PINTA getting the engine cover off, i'd say safe the cash for a proper intake when its mapped

Thanks guys.

I just find that at the moment the engine makes a really annoying sound when i turn it on. I want to get rid of that sound and thought just a new panel filter would do that? If not i will go for an induction kit then. I've heard the Neuspeed P-Flo Kit was good value and worked well on the ED30, so will prob go for that. Along with stage 1 and 2 bluefin. Although this will increase power to around 370bhp, and i think this would be too much for FWD? Opinions? :undecided:

I was thinking about a induction kit for the 35, however not heard of anyone fitting one yet... :undecided:

I honestly don't know of a person who still has neuspeed intake on an Ed30, your are only going to be getting 320bhp on stage 2 anything more and pump and inter cooler will be called for long with suspension etc

Intake along with other bits should be oing on in next 5 weeks for GTI Interational, going a different route this time or a change
