Hi all

im new here and new to VW's tbh, i recently bought a mk 4 golf gti 1.8 20v, AUM Engine on a 2001 plate, all seemed fine for a few days then the car just randomly started ideling erraticly and now cut's out as and when it wants mainly coming to a stop at junctions or light's ( kinda dangerous realli happend at 60 the other day with all creature cumforts lost, brakes ect) The car also seems to be low on power but previous owner has fitted a blow of type dumb valve witch is to be removed this weekend replaced with a forge one and new silicone boost hoses. can anyone point me in the right direction

i have changed the temp sensor and the idle seems to be a little better and also fitted a new MAF Sensor, but the problem still persist's. sometimes the car wants to pull and others seems like it cant be arsed and there's no go in it ( doesent seem to boost right) Waiting for vag com lead hopefully will arrive today then i can plug it in and se what the crack is and also align the throttle body after i clean it.

any help on this would be much appreciated as im beginging to get rather annoyed with the car and loosing hope after 2 weeks of ownership. i am based in the north west.

forgot to mention after the car cut out on my way to work this morning once i re-started the car the traction control light cam on and would not turn off untill i turned it of and restarted it again. dont this once or twice before but normally only happens when it is ideling roughly or once it has decided to cut itself out

cheers

In this day and age there is no point just changing parts randomly hoping to cure the problem, just take the car into a local VW indy or reputable garage and get the codes read, my local garage charge £40 for a diagnostics test - Simples  :smug:
