1.8 cl

i currantly have a 1.4 match, however its just under 1900 a year to insure, im looking into getting a 1.8 cl, and thats just under 2300 a year and i feel that it would be more then worth it for the sake of 20ish quid a month

anyone know were any is for sale?
or even better anyone looking to swap to a smaller engine?

im 19, stay in scotland

only 4 cars that i would drive, thats cheaper then the golf to insure

1. Seat arosa - 1674
2.VW Lupo - 1674
3.Old mini - 1356
4. Corsa 11 plate 1.0 eco - 1566

however as golfs are so cheap the insurance savings are outwieghed by the cost to buy them in the first place.

you could be a named driver on your dads policy could be cheeper or do it just 3rd party fire and theft as mk3 are in scrap yards if you know where to look and lets face it thay are easy to take apart with with i bit of help from peaple on here with there words of wisdome

dad lost his lisence, he has epilepsy so i cant use that method, i could mayby source a 1.8 engine and just tackle the fitting

My daughter is named driver on the missus policy with a peugeot 206 1.2 and even with me on it and the wife's full ncb its still well over £1400 a year.

bloody hell..... theres hardly any noticable performance gain in that either.....

My 17 year old brother is on my wife's policy for her lupo & its her first car too but she is 25, all modifications noted & they are coilovers, polo gti brakes, alloys, & a polo gti engine conversion.... with an agreed value, in case of non fault write off,

live in essex, £648 tpft........  I would definatley shop around mate, go with some specialists, my insurance is through sky here on the forum with the discount, the wife is with admiral

Yeah comparison websites are fairly crap of young drivers take a look in the insurance section, lots of good info in there, most club discounts you need to have held a license for 2 years

As for the transplant it wouldn't be on my list of things to do, but it's your motor, for the headache an hassle probably easier to buy a 1.8, however only you can decide what to do with the car, if the engine conversion was free then I'd say probably worth it, but if it's going to cost you then there are better conversions to do...  But at the price your insurance is that alone would make me buy a diesel polo as they where pretty cheap to insure...
