Electric window woes
« on: 08 May 2012, 21:09 »
My electric windows don't work, both sides. Tested drivers side it gets power when switched up or down just doesn't move.  I' m sure its a common problem but any pointers would help.

I had this with my passenger a while ago. Voltage was getting to the windows and I could hear it click but no movement. I took the door card off and tested at the motor for current. I then took out the window and then ran the mechanism back and forwards a few times. A bit slow at first and then it sped up. I then rubbed some candle wax down the inside of the runners. Put the window back in and it's spot on now - nice and fast and works a treat. I do think it happened due to underuse so I now try to use both windows at least once every few days when I'm driving him.

It has been sat for six months,  so sound like a plan. Did it take long to strip the window? Any guides on the forum?

No, took me about 5 mins. Did it at work when it was quiet!

Phillips screwdriver, about 8 screws, a few under the grab handle on the door and the others round the card rim. Not in front of my car now but that's about the gist of it!

Really quick easy job.
