1.8t rocker cover gasket/painting
« on: 06 May 2012, 23:09 »
Got a rocker cover gasket and camshaft seals to replace so wondering if anyone's got any tips for painting the rocker cover as I might as well do it while it's off and also can't seem to find a definite answer for if you need to use any sealant on the rocker cover and camshaft half moon and flat seals?

The half moon seal isn't the camshaft seal, half moon seal resides under your cam chain tensioner, your camshaft seals will be two round seals. You shouldn't need any sealant they were designed to be installed dry. You might want to change your timing belt while your there.

You can sandblast your rocker cover ready for painting.

Yeah that's what I meant tensioner seals, cambelt was changed about 1,000 miles ago so I'll be leaving that as it is
