Electric roof
« on: 06 June 2005, 21:36 »
Just bought a Mk3 Driver. Problem with sunroof, it tilts okay, however, does not seem to slide. How does the switch operate the slide function? Sorry, I have no manual. Is it possible the switch is f....d or the motor or me? Haynes manual a total waste of f.....g time and money for this model of Golf.

try winding it back manually. At least that'll tell you if it's jammed.

There should be an allen key clipped behind the trim unless someone nicked it :undecided:

I'm having a similar problem if anyone can help.

I bought a mk3 Driver.  ESR button makes a noise but it looks like the guides are not both at the same point when you manually wind it with the key.

Is there a way of re-aligning these?  And do you think this would then enable it to pick up again electrically???  It makes a noise but does nothing else!

Your help appreciated as always.

Paul

My roof has started doing this - have spoken to a sunroof specialist & he identified the problem with mine straight away - if it is the passengers side of the mechanism that isn;t coming foward as it should (ie getting stuck under the roof, meaning you have to pull it foward again wit ur hand) then it is likely that the cable on that side is broken.
Apparently its a common problem with this roof...bad news is that he quoted me £350 to fix due to the time involved! However, he said its not too difficult to do, just time consuming. I think most difficult thing is re-alligning the cables with motor.
I cant be bothered to try and sort it at the moment as the roof still tilts!
Let me know if this is any help!
