ko3s injectors
« on: 06 May 2012, 11:59 »
Been offered k04-001 gen Borg warner for decent price, at mo stage2 APR map. If for k04-001 Apr say only req 4bar fpr and k04 APR map upgrade which is only £60. But since I'm also running meth inj may req larger inj too. What thoughts on it if ko3s inj deliver enough fuel, have some Saab yellow at work.

I would suggest you stay away from a 4bar fpr unless you upgrade the fuel pump, it puts a lot of strain on the fuel pump. You are in my opinion much better off getting larger injectors. Cost of a 4bar for and new fuel pump is more than injectors.

Saab red tops are ideal for this turbo, 346cc at 3 bar is easily enough for 270bhp which is more than this can kick out.

With regards the mapping, do you really want a k04 map on a non k04 turbo? It has a completely different compressor and is no way really comparable to the k04. Admittedly £60 is a good price but I can only imagine all they are doing is sticking a k04 map on your car , that's not really tuning it! And the suggestion of a 4 bar  fpr is because  they've done it before and hence have a map for stock injectors and 4bar.

I appreciate you want to stick with apr as you've got a stage 2 from them but really you need a custom map tuned for your setup and not something which has just been put together on someone's car and being flashed onto yours.

£60 map from apr or custom remap from the likes of r-tech which is going to be better?!

iv got Saab reds in mine, but thats on a ko4-022!

uprated fuel pump, and only a 3bar reg! wasnt no need for a 4 bar!

to get the maxmuim out of a map u need corect size pipework!

3" tip = inlet 3" exhaust = outlet! and 2.5" intercooler pipework would be best!

ur best off going for custom mapping not a case of "£60 for a flash and go"

Running meth wouldnt mean bigger injectors. It allows you to run more ignition timing with the same fuelling.
NItrous is a touchy/fine subject running daily.  From what I read, you need to pull back ignition when using nitrous.

I wouldnt want to push the brains out of a k03s on a unforged engine.  I had the torque maxxed out on mine.  25psi peak by accident (dodgy gauge) and it was pushing 298lbft torque which is far too much for a stock bottom end.

That's true about meth,  mates got nos on his awesome runs 75bhp nozzles. Races everyone who'll race, ran it for good 3yrs now and gets proper hammering.
