Hi All,
A couple of days ago, my shifter got 'stuck' in the '+' and '-' position, whilst I tried going to 'N' and then into 'R'. I don't know if it was me who shifted it at an awkward angle which caused it or if there was an underling issue with the shifter assembly..I did hear the sound of something metal falling (sound like a light/small piece of metal - like if you would drop razor blade on a tiled floor)
Now, even though the car is shifting into the position I want it to be in (Usually 'D' mode) and changes gears as per normal - The shifter is not entirely truly sitting in the correct position. There's no solid 'click' between 'D' and 'S' - like there is between 'N' and 'D' and the shifter seems a little loose between the 'D' + 'S' positions. I noticed yesterday that whilst on the go, i hand my hand resting on the gear stick and I must have weighed it down towards me and the gear selection panel on the front started flashing all the gears up. I put the car properly in 'S' and it did what it normally does - but the lights kept flashing. I stopped the car and I put it in park and re-started it. It went back to normal. I did the same today and it happened again.
Anyone know of any DSG specialists in the North East area who could have a look at it for me? I'm not overly worried as the gears shift fine and it doesn't seem like any of the common faults which are posted all over the net about DSG - S-Tronic.
