Important Baby Seat Question!!!
« on: 06 June 2005, 18:35 »
Sorry fellas,
I know its not a very exiting post, but an important one none the less - for me anyway!!

I'm soon to become a dad for the first time, but I've recently been informed that it will be hard to get a car seat installed in my 1990 16v, due to short seat belt - they are indeed!

Having recently tried unsuccesfully to fit one, I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions as to the type that can be fitted into my car. It doesn't need to be from birth, and it doesn't need to be a big fancy one as it will be maily travelling in our "family" car (a Renault Laguna - no snidey comment please!!!).

Are there any extra fitting kits or the like that you can anchor a seat with?

Please help as the only other option is to get rid of the Golf!!!

Someone must have a Mk2 Golf with a baby seat!!!

Cheers

Hey congrats!

Mothercare do an autobase thing that you fit then just slide the car seat in. I'm sure this will fit but I don't know if you can use any car seat or one of theirs but they fit in a valver

tis also an excuse for a recaro babyseat

thanks for quick reply!!

Will have a look at mothercare - also just found Britax FitFinder that tells you which of their seats fit into your car!!

It's looking promising now any way!

Right- this short seat belt business- is that back or front?  Have a Maxi Cosi newborn seat  on order for impending arrival- should I be worried?!

I have a three month old and she loves sleeping in my noisy mk2 gti!!!

we bought a Jeep three-wheeler pushchair-travel system type thing.   the baby seat (birth to 9 months) part of it fits fine in the golf, front or back.

infact it's easier to get it in the back of the 3 door golf than in the back of our 5 door audi !!

That's a relief- chaging the car or changing the baby seat.  Hmm.  Or even changing the baby...?!

JUst a thought, perhaps a belt from a MK3 would bolt in and would be longer?  Just thinking out loud :)
