Hi,
Not been here for a while but my 97 8v GTI needs a full set of shocks and springs. I'm passed the days of big wheels and 60mm drop and this car is as it left the factory and that's how I want to keep it looking (god I sound Old!) I've had Jamex and Boge combinations in the past on my Mk11's but what's the best combination to keep the car looking original but 'improved'?
It's a second car and I want to keep the budget down

* Boge Turbo Gas with Std Springs (or equivalent Gas upgrades from GS&F/EuroCarParts)?
* GMAX Kit (As advertised on Ebay @20mm drop)?

Any Suggestions from any of you 'purists' like me out there??

20mm drop should be fine, and it will improve the handling of you mk3.

My mk3 is dropped 50mm on standard 15's and the ride is a bit harsh, but the handling difference over the stock suspension more than makes up for it

Weitic kit from c&r enterprises, 25mm drop, good handling but still comfy ride.
Don't buy that boge sh!t from GSF, the handling will be good, but the ride is very very harsh

I've a jamex kit that lowers 35mm - handling is massively improved over std and ride aint to bad apart from on the worst roads. Kit was about £230 plus fitting and camber at midland VW (Cannock, Staffs) who will give you wicked advice if you give them a call - don't know if they are local to you though!

Got H&R springs with boge turbo dampers and think the ride is tight but suprisingly smooth compared to standard, but the original stuff was a bit past its best. to give you an idea i can go about 15-20mph over the broken up speed humps and it feels fine.
