Down on power?

Hey,
So I've bought a golf 1.8t and it has been chipped by the previous owner, I've had it a few days and it does'nt seem any faster than a standard 1.8t, I was wondering what speeds have people got out of each gear?
thanks

speeds in each gear not going to change when its been remapped only diff ratios in the box would alter that really its how quick it gets to that speed check youtube for remap mk4s and see

well I don't imagine its had a map, I got given a little box with a chip in it, and he said this was the old chip and that it had been replaced with a superchip, I'm now beyond confused!

tbf i dont think you would need the chip with a map i remember someone on uk-mkivs having one on their tdi and when nick @ r-tech run it on the dyno it was only producing an extra 20bhp as opposed to the +40 that it said on the box and caused some implications once removed it was full steam ahead
